 OTHER NOTES:
Magnificent was the second single from the No Line on the Horizon album.  And so far the release of this single has left many fans puzzled.  The release date for the single was announced as May 4, 2009.  Fans going into their shops expecting to find a copy on CD were disappointed in many cases.  In the UK only a 7" vinyl was released on that day, and all listings for a CD single were deleted.  In Canada, Japan and Australia, traditional areas which get CD releases, there has yet to be an announcement of a physical single, and it appears at this time that there will not be.

Europe however, did get a two part CD release, one with a black and white cover of the band in a jewel case, and the other a tinted red cover of the band in a cardboard sleeve, or in a jewel case in some areas.

Most surprising was a June 9 release in the USA, the first U2 CD single release in the USA since 1997's If God Will Send His Angels, and the first commercial single release in the USA since 2004's Vertigo on 7" vinyl.

At the same time, in the UK iTunes store, there were three digital singles released, one titled "Magnificent With 2 Remixes", one titled, "Magnificent with 3 Remixes" and one titled, ""Magnificent with Live Tracks & Remix" which contained the above tracks, plus several additional remixes.  In many online shops in the US a 10 track digital single was released, and at least one shop online had a 13 track digital single.

And for those wondering, yes the "Edit" and the "UK Edit" are two different edits of the title track.  The first sung line on the "Edit" version is simply "Magnificent" where as on the "UK Edit" the first sung line is "Oh oh magnificent".  It's an easy way to tell the two apart, although there are other small differences throughout.
