| Released at the same time as If God
Will Send His Angels, MOFO marked the 6th track released from Pop
as a single. This was a record for U2, who's previous record was five singles
released from Achtung Baby in the early 90s.
Similar to Discotheque, the MOFO single was
made up mainly of mixes of the title track, the sole exception being a
remix of If God Will Send His Angels. MOFO was a powerful song live
which opened each Popmart concert. A live version, recorded in Mexico in
1997, appeared on the Hasta La Vista Baby live
CD released to fan club members only.
The remix of If God Will Send His Angels has been a source of confusion
to many. It has been labelled as the "Grand Jury Mix" and also as the "Big
Yam Mix" - both of these mixes are the same track, and indeed if you read
the credits for the Grand Jury Mix you will see that it was remixed and
produced by Gerald Baillergeau, also known as "Big Yam". This is likely
the source of some of this confusion in the track title. |
