Released in late 1996 to promote the forthcoming album, Pop,
due in the spring of 1997. This compilation was made up of tracks that
had previously appeared on the albums Unforgettable
Fire,
The Joshua Tree, Rattle
and Hum,
Achtung Baby, and Zooropa.
The only non album cuts appearing are Desire which simply has the interview
segment removed as it had on the single, and Mysterious Ways (The Perfecto
Mix) remixed by Paul Oakenfold.
Two different releases were pressed, one for the US with 7 tracks and
one for the UK with 5 tracks. The covers were slightly different as well,
the US featuring a live performance picture in blue in the bottom right
corner. The UK version featured a lemon in this position. In the summer
of 1997 a similarily covered promo single was pressed for Mexico called
the WFM 96.9 Promo.
