OTHER NOTES
This album by U2 was set for release on November 22 / 23, 2004 but as has become commonplace, the album "leaked" on the internet weeks earlier on November 6, 2004. Originally during the recording sessions a demo CD with six possible tracks from the album was stolen, and the band claimed that they would release the album through Apple's iTunes music service if they appeared online early. But when the leak did come it was from a full version of the album, not this earlier stolen CD.

The album was released in four different formats.  The first format was a vinyl release for the UK market.  The other three releases are all variations on the CD release of the album.  The album was released as a CD by itself, released in a double jewel case with a DVD, and also released as a collectors edition, which included a hard bound book with text and images by the band.  I have yet to find information about a cassette release, which would make this the first U2 album not released in that format.

Further variations are seen in the album releases by the inclusion of a bonus track, "Fast Cars".  This track is available on the UK and Japan releases in all three CD formats.  It is also available worldwide in the limited edition box set.

The first single released from the album was Vertigo released commercially on November 8 / 9, 2004.
