| OTHER NOTES |
| In 1986 The Edge embarked on a solo album, as he scored the
movie Captive. For the main theme of the movie
he brought in Sinead O'Connor on vocals, and Larry Mullen on drums. At
this point in time Sinead had worked with the group In Tua Nua, but in
a writing / arranging of songs for them and had not participated in recording
with them. She had been performing live in Ireland but her first
released recording effort was this single with the Edge.
The single featured the a mix called the 7" Version, as well as a second
mix of the song "Heroine". Upon close comparison there appears to
be little difference between the version on the 7" single and that on the
soundtrack album other than a few seconds of blank space at the end of
the track. The song isn't even labelled as a different mix on the
7" and instead labels it as "Theme from Captive" just like the soundtrack
does. On both sources it is listed as being remixed by Steve Lillywhite.
The second mix of "Heroine" adds a longer instrumental introduction, and
fades out with Sinead's vocals still prominant instead of the instrumental
ending found on the soundtrack.
Both the single and the soundtrack itself are now deleted and are no
longer being pressed. The mix from the soundtrack album does appear on
Sinead's So Far...The Best Of album, and also
appears on various Celtic music compilations. |
