Bono On We Are The World Remake?

UPDATED: MTV initially reported that Bono had signed on to participate in Quincy Jones’ remake of We Are The World. However, there is no mention of Bono having been at the taping in New York City this Monday. Some outlets are reporting that a few artists will be contributing to the effort remotely, but did not specifically mention Bono. The song and video are set to premier on NBC on February 12 during the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Hope For Haiti Now #1 On Billboard 200

Hope For Haiti Now debuts as the #1 album on this week’s Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 171K, marking the first time a digital-only release has topped the chart. The Hope For Haiti Now Telethon has also broken fundraising records, taking in more than $61 million. (Thanks, Morgan)

Rolling Stone reports that the charity collaboration between Bono, Jay-Z, and Rihanna will be titled Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour). As previously reported, the track is being produced by Bono’s drinking buddy Swizz Beatz. UPDATED: The track is now up on iTunes. It’s an instant download when you pre-order the Help For Haiti Now live album.

iTunes will be offering audio and video of this Friday’s Hope For Haiti Now concert. The album will be available for pre-order the same day as the broadcast. All proceeds will go to charities assisting victims of the earthquake. The telethon will air at 8PM ET/PT on a wide variety of broadcast and cable networks.
