| When Island / Polygram released the Live from Sydney video
they tried a different form of promotion for the video release. They
printed up a blank CD case, which featured the artwork from the video release.
On the back was an advertisement for the video and the tracklisting of
the video. These blank CD cases were then sent to stores to be put
in the CD section under 'U2' so that those shopping for U2 cds would see
the advertisement.
Upon first finding one of these in my local music store I thought it
was a CD release of the concert and had it to the counter before noticing
the big note across the back saying "This is not a CD". Others have done
the same over the years, judging from the occasional email we get asking
about the CD release of "Live From Sydney" that people have "seen" in the
shops. |
